ABOUT ME

Hi there! I am a second year PhD student at the Universiy of Minnesota advised by Stevie Chancellor part of the Grouplens lab. My interest broadly lies at the intersection of Machine Learning and Human Computer Interaction. Particularly, I'm excited about how we can design AI systems so that humans can easily interact and use such systems. Currently, I'm focusing on harmful content analysis and detection from social media on low resourced settings. How we can design content moderation tools that acheive the needs for low resourced languages.

Proir to this I completed my undergraduate studies in Information Systems at Mekelle University by 2020. I'm co-organising the Development working group at Machanism Design for Social Good .

In my free time I love watching and playing football (soccer).

  • Fall 2023: I continued my internship with the amazing team at the Distributed AI Research (DAIR).
  • Summer 2023: I'll be interning at the Distributed AI Research (DAIR) this summer.
  • January 2023: Started Co-organzing the Development working group at MD4SG.
